The Carson String Quartet is currently Carnegie Mellon University’s Honors String Quartet and is composed of Erin David (violin), Joshua Huang (violin), Alexander Locke (viola) and Sameer Apte (cello). As cultural ambassadors, the quartet represents the School of Music through a variety of performances throughout the year. In the past some of these opportunities have included recording projects, Chamber Music Pittsburgh’s pre-concert performances, CMU Chamber Series appearances, and trips to CMU Qatar in Doha. Its members have won prizes in the Lyric Chamber Competition, the Silberman Chamber Competition, and the St. Paul String Quartet Competition. The group was formed in fall 2018 after a rigorous audition process and is currently coached by David Harding.
